Choose to be happy now!
Here at The Happiness Institute, we believe happiness is something you choose. And we’ve specifically chosen the word “choose” because each of its letters stands for one of our key happiness strategies.
C = Clarity (of goals, direction and life purpose)
Happy people set clear goals and determine clear & specific plans to ensure these goals become reality. So clarify your life plan now (because no one else will do it for you!).
H = Healthy Living (activity & exercise, diet & nutrition, and sleep)
Health forms a crucial part of the foundation to happiness. It’s hard to be happy if you’re literally sick & tired all the time. So do whatever you can to be healthy and you’ll also boost your chances of being happy.
O = Optimism (positive but realistic thinking)
There’s no doubt that happy people think about themselves, others and the world differently. Among other things, they search for more positives. The good news is that this is something you can learn to do so start practicing now.
O = Others (the key relationships in your life)
Research strongly indicates that happy people have both more and better quality relationships. So make sure you devote time to developing and fostering your key relationships.
S = Strengths (your core qualities and attributes)
Rather than spending all their time trying to “fix” their “weaknesses”, happy people spend more time identifying and utilising their strengths. Find out what you’re good at and do it as much as possible.
E = Enjoy the moment (live in, and appreciate the present)
The past is history, tomorrow’s a mystery, and today’s a gift – that’s why they call it “the present”. Live in the moment and enjoy life more.

NERDS ICE BREAKER - CONVERSATION PIECE
Q: Why are zero scores in tennis called 'love'?
A: In France , where tennis became popular, round zero on the scoreboard looked like an egg and was called 'l'oeuf,' which is French for 'egg.' When tennis was introduced in the US , Americans (mis)pronounced it 'love.'

CHILD SUPPORT NEWS
Is your child under 18 years old?
Recently, an eNews subscriber asked for information about whether they’re still eligible to receive child support when their child turns 18, leaves school and attends university or TAFE.
If your child is under 18 years of age then by law they’re still entitled to child support. If they’re turning 18 during a year in which they’re receiving a full-time secondary school education, you can apply to extend your child support assessment until the last day of the secondary school year. In most cases child support will cease on the official last day of the school year or exam period for the year level that your child is in at the time they turn 18, if this is later than the last day of the school year.
Full-time secondary education may be provided by a school, TAFE or a school that caters to the needs of children with learning difficulties.
If your child attends university, college, TAFE or a school that caters to the needs of children with learning difficulties, they’re still eligible to receive child support, however this would stop on their 18th birthday.
If you’d like to extend your assessment or agreement you’ll need to do it after the child turns 17 but before they turn 18. To apply or for more information call us on 131 272* or refer to Application to have an assessment continue past a child's 18th birthday on the CSA website.

Using medicines safely
Whether it's an allergic reaction to a tablet you have been prescribed, or a mix-up with doses, thousands of us suffer the consequences of adverse drug events every year. PWP PARENTS REMINDER
We would like to remind our PWP parents that you are responsible for the supervision and well-being of your children at all times during a PWP function, outing or excursion including the school holiday camps.
PWP being a volunteer association is NOT able to and does not have the resources, accreditation, screening, licensing or insurance arrangements for assuming child or adolescent care responsibilities. Parents need to be observant where their children are at all times. You are also responsible for the good conduct and behaviour of your children. You need to assess the risks of some activities in relation to the child's age and development. If your child is accompanied by another parent and their children then this is a personal arrangement between the two parents, and other parents or committee members can not be expected to assume responsibility. We need to publish this even though we know most people already understand this.
